Why My Workshop Dates Are More Flexible Than They Look
You may have browsed my printmaking workshop pages, and thought I’d love to do that course but I can’t do it on the stated dates so you dismiss the idea and move on. Well, don’t! Let me explain why.
This year, I put up dates for all my workshops and some didn't fill. I assumed that perhaps some of them just weren't the right course for that season, so I cancelled them. The next thing that happened was that someone who saw one of the courses got in touch: she was really keen, but those particular dates just didn't work for her and she asked if she could book a course for herself and her sister later in the year. We had a chat and in effect, what she was looking for was the course itself but just on different dates, so that’s what we did. We agreed dates and they booked the same course for October instead. Consequently, it struck me that may well have lost other bookings, not because courses didn’t appeal but because the dates weren’t right. This person was prepared to come and ask but how many hadn’t even considered asking whether the date could be moved.
So now, as I plan my courses for the end of the year and 2027, I will be adding proposed dates but the door is open if anyone is particularly keen but would like to suggest a date. The same can also apply to a popular course. If one gets fully booked and you have missed the boat, get in touch. There is nothing to say I can’t rerun a course provided my diary hasn’t filled up in the meantime.
Once a date is confirmed, I'll usually add it to the listing so anyone else can join — unless you'd rather keep the spare places for yourself, and bring along one or two friends or family members instead.
None of this is meant to make booking feel complicated. It's the opposite: rather than fitting yourself around a date that happens to already be on a page, you can just ask, and we'll find one that fits you. So if a workshop catches your eye and the dates aren't quite right — or aren't there yet — please get in touch. That's exactly what the flexibility is there for.
You can browse the printmaking schedule here. The autumn courses and courses for 2027 will be added soon. Get in touch if there is a workshop that was on this year that you would like to run again later this year or in 2027.
