INSPIRATION

“Across The Bay" is a seascape monotype print that marks a departure from Carol Nunan’s usual style. She says, ‘It's part of a trio of prints inspired by my early days on the Isle of Bute off the west coast of Scotland. During those initial weeks, I'd rise at dawn, embarking on a drive around the island, regardless of the weather. The shifting light over the Kyles and the island's lovely views held a captivating charm, even when obscured by rain. The Isle of Arran and the mainland would intermittently emerge and fade in the horizon. These mornings inspired quick, loose paintings in my sketchbook, and I aimed to infuse that painterly quality into my prints.’
