INSPIRATION

'Evening Curlew Over the Wall' V/E 1/20 - A richly colourful and textured, semi-abstract, piece of Northumbrian landscape art - an original collagraph print by Irish artist Carol Nunan living and working from her studio on the Isle of Bute. It is one of a variable edition of twenty inspired by the endangered curlew, a symbol of the Northumberland National Park, Hadrian's Wall country and often spotted in the fields and along the shoreline of the island of Bute.

‘The endangered curlew nests in the grassy uplands and loughs of Northumberland in spring and summer, departing for the coast in autumn and winter. Its unmistakable silhouette appeals to the artist in me, as do the stone walls and edges in the landscape. Incorporating real plants that are part of that landscape is a recurring feature of my work. My aim was to evoke the surrounding landscape where this fabulous, slightly other-worldly bird makes it’s home.’

• The print will be unmounted and unframed, wrapped in acid free tissue and delivered in a sturdy postal tube. UK delivery is free.
