Work on the new garden studio is progressing

Demolition Day

It is all very exciting here in Rothesay. Preparations are well underway to make way for my new garden studio.

Last weekend the shed went to a family looking for somewhere to store their kids’ toys. The concrete will have to come up next - it isn’t in great nick. Unfortunately, we had to take out several mature shrubs, a lilac tree and a sycamore tree that had self-seeded. These were all in the path of where the front of the studio will be sited. They acted as a privacy screen between us and our next-door neighbour but privacy will soon be restored once the garden studio is in situ.

The garage demolition began at 8 am this morning with the asbestos roof coming off and being wrapped up for correct disposal. As you can see there is a bit to do yet with taking down the walls. There is a crack in the concrete which we are hoping isn’t going to be a problem. The ground screw team come next week to survey the area and hopefully, we won’t be in for any nasty surprises.

The date construction is due to start is Monday, May 15th. In theory, I should have a studio to move into by Friday, Mat 20th! If it all falls into place, as I hope it will, I should be out of our lounge, all set up in time for The Bute Studio Trail in July, Saturday and Sunday 22nd and 23rd.
