Featured Exhibition: Summer Group Exhibition at Dukes of West Barns
Dukes of West Barns Gallery, Dunbar, has invited me to participate in their Summer Group Exhibition.
June 26th - September 2nd, 2025.
I’m excited to announce what I hope will mark the beginning of an exciting new relationship with one of East Lothian's most lovely art destinations.
Finding Dukes of West Barns
I last exhibited in this part of Scotland a few years ago at The Found Gallery in Dunbar. It was closed when my business manager and husband, Chris, went in search of new exhibition opportunities in East Lothian. (It has since reopened under new management following flooding issues). He followed up a lead I was given from a fellow artist, Jenny Martin, a friend of my sister-in-law, who was also exhibiting at last year's Printmakers of Scotland Festival. She recommended Dukes of West Barns—and what a fantastic recommendation it turned out to be!
About the Gallery
Dukes of West Barns is a magic haven of creativity on the edge of Dunbar. This light-filled space offers much more than just gallery walls—it houses artist studios, workshop spaces for creative courses, and a delightful Bistro serving everything from hearty breakfasts to afternoon teas. The atmosphere is welcoming and inspirational, making it a perfect setting for experiencing art.
What particularly impressed us was not only the quality of artwork on display but also their community engagement through workshops, artists’ breakfasts (a chance for local artists to network) and nurturing a community of artists in the studios. The gallery also has a year-long partnership with Muirfield Riding Therapy, helping to raise awareness and support for their exceptional therapeutic horseback riding programs.
From Cards to Exhibition
I'm especially pleased that my relationship with Dukes began earlier this year when they enthusiastically embraced stocking my greeting cards in their gift shop. The cards have proven quite popular with visitors, and this positive reception led to my invitation to participate in their prestigious summer exhibition.
Exhibition Preparations
I'm currently in the process of selecting which prints will comprise my submission for the exhibition. I'm considering pieces that will fit with the gallery's clientele while showing the breadth of my printmaking techniques.
Visit During the Exhibition
When you visit during the exhibition (June 26 - September 2), you can make a day of it! Enjoy my artwork along with pieces from other talented artists, perhaps take a creative workshop, and definitely treat yourself to something delicious at the Bistro. The combination of art, creativity, and culinary delights makes Dukes of West Barns a destination worth travelling for.
