Enhance Your Home Decor with Art Prints in 2022

For many of us the amount of additional time we’ve been forced to spend in our homes has resulted in an upsurge of home decorating and home renovations. If we can’t easily spend money on foreign travel some are spending that holiday money giving our homes a revamp.

I’ve started a new board on Pinterest, for those of you who like the platform -

Art Lovers Home Decor Ideas

It has three sub-sections:

  1. Creating A Gallery Wall

  2. Wall Colour Backdrops For Art

  3. Ways to Display 2D Art

Creating A Gallery Wall

This is self explanatory. I’m pinning innovative ideas I see on Pinterest on ways to display the art you have in your home. It’s particularly good way of getting inspiration if you’re a bit of a collector (whether you buy originals or reproductions or both). Over time I will be adding my own suggestions based on my own work.

Ways to Display 2D Art

I’m also gradually building this section as I find innovative ideas on alternatives to the usual practice of putting a ‘nail in the wall’. Most of the pins on this board show art displayed on shelves as opposed to picture hooks.

Wall Colour Backdrops For Art

This is the sub-section I’ve devoted the most time to so far. Many people, including myself, feel a little bit intimidated when it comes to choosing room colours when they decide to redecorate. Most opt for a ‘safe’ option of a neutral backdrop.

Each Idea Pin takes one of my prints and pulls together a colour palette of 5-7 colours drawn from the print itself. I’ve taken each of the colours and ‘mocked up’ the print against each colour. I’ve then done the same again with the colours at 50% strength (mid-tone) and 20-30% strength (light tones) so you can get an idea of what a print might look like against the colour backdrop.

I’ve also shown the print with light to dark frames, and of various widths. The colours can be used to help you choose furniture, soft furnishings and room decorating accessories.

Some of the pins, that are not my work, are there to show how you can pick a colour theme, or subject, with complimentary colours that can be pulled together for a gallery wall and in the furniture, shapes in the art work that can be picked up on in the accessories and so on.

Customers have often hesitated to buy a print they love because colours in it ‘don’t go with the living room’ or wherever! This is my attempt to turn that on its head. I’m inviting you to be bold and think outside the box. Really make a statement, not just with your choice of print but using an art print (or a collection of prints) as the basis of a whole room revamp.
