Stalking The Depths
Stalking The Depths
INSPIRATION
"Stalking The Depths" is a coastal art print that skillfully merges monotype and collagraph techniques to honour the captivating grace of the grey heron. Renowned for their patient vigilance along the shores of Bute and Northumbria, these birds stand at the water's edge, diligently scanning the tide's depths for sustenance.
The print attempts to capture the heron's tranquil and statuesque presence perched upon the rocky terrain above the waterline. Carol Nunan draws inspiration from personal encounters with these birds near Rothesay and the Northumbrian coastline, along with observing the bustling heron nests near Lochranza on the Isle of Arran. Through the harmonious combination of monotype and collagraph techniques, the minimalist print not only captures the heron's physical form to encapsulate the essence of its serene yet resolute character.
