GETTING TO THE STUDIO
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Hexham has good public transport links.
The train station connects Hexham to Newcastle upon Tyne in the east and Carlisle in the west which in turn connect with the East Coast mainline at Newcastle Upon Tyne or the West Coast mainline at Carlisle. See below for details.
There is also a good bus service between Newcastle and Carlisle that goes through Hexham. See below for details.
If you are relying on public transport a lift can be arranged to and from the studio, or take a taxi to the studio (at a relatively low cost).
Newcastle Airport is very accessible (25 minute drive from Hexham) if you are coming from further afield within the UK or abroad. There are daily flights from Ireland and mainland Europe as well as some international flights. The simplest way to get from the airport to Hexham is to hire a car or take a taxi. You can also catch the Metro into Newcastle and then out via train to Hexham. Add +/- 2 hours to your journey.
You will find a map on my contact page and if you have GPS on your phone or in your car input the post code NE46 1SB.
Hexham is on the Hadrian’s Wall Country railway line, which runs between Newcastle and Carlisle. Completed in 1838, the line was the first in the country to link the east and west coasts. Today, Hexham has a service of two trains an hour to Newcastle Monday to Saturday daytimes, and an hourly service westwards to Carlisle. On Sundays, there’s an hourly service in each direction. Connections can be made to other train services at Newcastle and Carlisle. It’s also possible to by through tickets to Newcastle International Airport, changing in Newcastle to the Tyne and Wear Metro.
